Cascina Chicco

The estate

Established in 1950 when Ernesto Faccenda — known locally as "Chicu" — bought his first hectare of vines in Canale, in the Roero hills of Piedmont. The winery still carries his nickname.

Ernesto's son Federico continued the estate, and since the 1980s it has been run by Federico's sons, Enrico and Marco. The family farms vineyards across Canale, Castellinaldo, Castagnito and Vezza d'Alba, including plantings within the Roero DOCG zone.

Arneis is the estate's calling card — Cascina Chicco is one of the producers most closely associated with re-establishing the variety as Roero's signature white, alongside Roero Nebbiolo reds from individually named vineyard crus.
