Edouard Delaunay

The estate

The Delaunay négociant house was founded in Dijon in 1893, and by the 1930s had built a network distributing some of Burgundy's most sought-after domaines. In the 1950s the business moved its base to Nuits-Saint-Georges.

After the house was sold out of the family in the early 1990s, Laurent Delaunay — a fifth-generation winemaker who had spent the intervening years building the Languedoc brand Les Jamelles with his wife Catherine — bought back the Edouard Delaunay name and its historic Nuits-Saint-Georges cellars in 2017, restoring it as an independent house.

Under Laurent Delaunay, the house buys grapes rather than finished wine, working parcels across the Côte de Nuits and vinifying with natural yeasts, brief cool maceration and restrained use of new oak.
